What do accountants do?
Overview
It is often said that accounting is the language of business. One must be familiar with accounting principles to be able to read and understand the financial statements of a business. These financial statements are like a puzzle about a company; an accountant helps figure out and piece together the meaning behind the numbers to learn more about a company and its strengths and weaknesses. Then, an accountant needs to take that information and relate it to the trends in the economic and financial markets to understand the financial stability of a company and its ability to maintain its place in the industry. It is only when all these pieces are connected that an accountant can be successful in providing value.
